Driving Through Intersections
At an intersection without signs or lights, yield to a vehicle already there; if you arrive together, yield to the vehicle on your right. At an all-way stop, the first vehicle to stop completely goes first; ties also yield right.
Traffic Lights
A yellow light means stop if you can do so safely. At red, stop completely; unless a sign forbids it, turn right only after stopping and yielding to pedestrians and traffic.
Sharing the Road with Other Road Users
Yield to pedestrians when turning. When passing a cyclist, leave at least one metre where practical; check for cyclists before turning right.
Changing Positions
Before changing lanes, signal, check mirrors and look over your shoulder for a safe gap. A signal does not grant right of way.
Parking Along Roadways
Obey posted restrictions and local bylaws. Never block a sidewalk or crosswalk, and do not park within three metres of a fire hydrant.
Driving at Night and in Bad Weather
Slow down when darkness or weather reduces visibility. Leave extra following distance on wet or slippery roads, and drive at a speed that lets you stop within what you can see.
